Dr. Katie founded AutismNERD - the Neurodiverse Education Resources of Denver - because she saw a need for a community guide for families like her own. As a parent for 2 kids enrolled in Jefferson County (Golden-west Denver) public school district Special Education programs, she had to navigate with variable support the systems of diagnosis, therapies, IEPs, tutors, and school transitions. Fortunately, Katie’s an experienced student advocate and community guide.

Having spent 20y employed on college campuses, Katie is well-versed in various environments from small liberal arts, state flagships, a moderate-size teacher’s college, and with top-tier engineering programs. Including having earned her PhD in Higher Ed and Student Affairs, Katie has advised over 10,000 students on their academic plans and created personalized roadmaps for student success in and beyond the classroom. She considers her specialty as a guide at the intersection of Colorado+College+Neurodiversity.

Dr. Katie is honored to support all types of families, to hear your stories, and believes there are right-fit places for all types of students. In addition to counseling families and businesses, she volunteers on the Board of Directors for Autism Society Colorado, and on a legislative board in support of students with disabilities in higher education.
